Community advocates are valued for their front-line perspective on cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survival issues within the community that they represent. A critical requirement for this role is extensive experience and connections/network with the cancer community being represented. Individuals who demonstrate both cancer community experience and network are encouraged to apply. Advocates who have trained and/or served in a research capacity, on clinical trial review panels, institutional review boards, or other similar positions of cancer research leadership will be considered research advocates and should apply instead for a SWOG research advocate position as they become available.
