About
Our Story
Translating research questions into real-world answers.
Cancer research saves lives—but only when discoveries move beyond the lab.
Hope Foundation exists to bridge that gap. Founded by doctors, scientists, and advocates of the SWOG Cancer Research Network, we channel support directly to the people and studies shaping tomorrow’s treatments.

A partnership that powers progress
SWOG is one of the nation’s largest cancer research networks, leading clinical trials that define how cancer is treated.
The Hope Foundation is the only organization dedicated to supporting that work—providing flexible, donor-funded resources that keep innovation moving when federal grants fall short.
Learn more about SWOG
Behind every breakthrough is a network of support.
Our administrative network includes SWOG’s Operations Office that employs data managers, protocol coordinators, quality assurance and training staff who facilitate the Group’s work.
Our LLC, SWOG Clinical Trials Partnerships, coordinates investigator-initiated SWOG clinical trials through industry and institutional partnerships. We support SWOG’s initiatives across disease areas, such as translational medicine – basic science and genetic research that has the potential to critically impact clinical practice.
How we make progress possible
The Hope Foundation for Cancer Research partners with SWOG Cancer Research Network to provide more than $3 million annually in support of oncology research in lung, breast, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary cancers, as well as melanoma, myeloma, leukemia, lymphoma, and rare diseases. We fund critical, need-based research grants, fellowships, training events, physician education, and patient advocacy.

Your support fuels every breakthrough
When you give to The Hope Foundation, you’re not donating to an abstract cause—you’re directly funding the studies, people, and ideas extending and improving lives every day. Your contribution helps:
Launch innovative clinical trials.
SWOG conducts studies that other groups won’t, or can’t. SWOG’s vast network stretches coast to coast and to 7 other countries. Its study teams investigate the greatest needs for patients today, not for profits down the road.
Train the next generation of cancer researchers.
SWOG’s 20,000+ members have access to training, fellowships, travel support, and competitive grant awards through our programs. We care about supporting investigators now, and keeping them active in research tomorrow.
Make cutting-edge care accessible to all.
SWOG trials reach patients from rural Hawaii to metro Detroit and points between and beyond. We fund work to ensure the best and latest care is made available to patients where they live and when they need it most.
