Hope Foundation Board of Directors Approves 2026 Budget
Just before the Thanksgiving holiday, The Hope Foundation’s board met to finalize plans for the year ahead. As always, the group carefully considered a slate of new funding proposals amid the regular business involved in approving an annual budget.
Among the approved projects we received requests to support in 2026, we’re pleased to be offering new or continued funding for SWOG research in these key areas:
- Funding for complex statistical analysis.
SWOG’s Statistics and Data Management Center (SDMC) conducts important secondary, translational medicine, and other innovative data analyses critical to increasing SWOG’s research impact for furthering treatment outcomes. Funds support lead staff time, as well as mentoring and training for up-and-coming staff scientists to bolster the work. - Further support for advanced practice providers (APPs).
Through renewed funding for SWOG’s APP Task Force, we’re excited to promote the professional development of these nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other specialists who have seen their clinical roles expand in recent years. Funds will provide mentorship, travel to professional conferences, and updated training materials. - Funding to advance the work of patient advocates.
SWOG’s patient advocates are a powerful force for good, bringing critical perspectives and specialized learning to the development of our cancer trials. One way advocates develop their unique skill sets is through participation at key research conferences like ASCO and ASH. Funds will provide for membership and attendance at 2026 society meetings. - Support for our members in Latin America.
Not only does the SWOG Latin America Initiative (SLAI) train and support the participation of our international members, it also improves accrual to our studies by fostering bidirectional scientific relationships. Together, our teams accomplish more. Funds enable SLAI program management, events at SWOG meetings, an annual mentoring conference.
While SWOG’s federal funding has wavered in recent months, The Hope Foundation has remained a constant partner to bridge unmet needs, ensure vital work proceeds, and continue to innovate.
All of this is made possible by the donors who fuel our work—thank you.
Together, we’re moving cancer research forward.
