The Hope Foundation is pleased to report the ongoing success of Coltman Fellow Veena Shankaran, M.D., of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The award period for Dr. Shankaran’s fellowship project, “Implementation of a Prospective Financial Impact Assessment Tool in Patients with Metastatic Colorectal Cancer” concluded this year and a related SWOG study is slated for activation. This research will investigate the impact of a cancer diagnosis on a patient’s finances and health-related quality of life.
Dr. Shankaran received the Charles A. Coltman, Jr., Fellowship Award in 2012 and has since earned a Career Development Award from the Conquer Cancer Foundation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
