Another Exceptional (Virtual) Group Meeting
Thank you to all who logged on and participated in last week’s Fall 2020 Virtual SWOG Cancer Research Network Group Meeting! The conference welcomed more than 1,100 attendees and featured 42 educational sessions and special event highlights. Below are a few of those highlights that were sponsored by The Hope Foundation for Cancer Research.
‘Crucial Conversations’ Panel Discussion
On Wednesday, September 16, The Hope Foundation hosted a kickoff event ahead of the group meeting and in support of the SWOG community. This 1-hour discussion featured individual members from across the network sharing their experiences, concerns, and future hopes as we continue to deal with the impact of COVID-19 on cancer medicine and research, and on physicians and their families.
We Crushed the Crab
Dozens of runners and walkers joined forces to get moving and help raise funds in support of SWOG research. Many thanks to those who donated and participated in the event. We raised over $2,200! Watch the tribute below to hear what inspired people to Crush the Crab.
Robert B. Livingston Lectureship
The Robert B. Livingston lectureship, funded by The Hope Foundation, brings a special guest speaker to SWOG group meetings, alternating between a focus on lung and breast cancer advances in translational medicine. This year former breast cancer committee Chairman Gabriel Hortobagyi, MD, delivered the lecture titled “Progress in Endocrine Therapy: Next Steps.” The talk was shared at the breast cancer committee meeting and can be viewed below.
Grants & Awards Announcements
During Thursday’s plenary session, SWOG Chair Dr. Charles Blanke announced numerous 2020 Hope-sponsored awards. In addition, our President & CEO, Jo Horn, shared other relevant Hope news.
